Clonlara Equestrian centre itself is situated in the townsland of Oakfield a part of the bigger kiltannenlea area in Clare.  The house you see when you arrive is over 200 years old and is Oakfield house.   It was once the local school and parish priest house and has been in my husbands family now for over 50 years.  The parish of clonlara which in Irish is cluain lara which means the meadow of the mare is steep in history and is full of old castles and old townslalnd houses like our own.  It has the beautiful falls of doonass and the footbridge to castleconnell

Clonlara is perfectly situated just 10minutes from Limerick city , five minutes from O' Briensbridge and 15minutes from the marina town of Killaloe.

O' Briensbridge between Clonlara and Killaloe also sits by the edge of the shannon  a well know fishermans haven.  Some newly restored walkways and  childs play area means it caters for all the family. It also has in the village a prize winning resteraunt,  "The mill bar" its well worth calling.

Killaloe sits right on the shannon, with boat trips and water sports on its doorstep . So lots to do for those who like the waterways and some lovely cafes.  One to try is the river run just over the bridge
